Maybe the end of an era....

I worked with a guy who used to be a manager at Holley a long time a go, before joining my company. He told a story about a meeting he was in, at one of the big 3, with a Holley VP, and a couple of other Holley and the big 3 company's shooters. The Big 3 guy looked right at the Holley VP and stated that they were going to fuel injection, and wanted Holley to supply fuel injectors. The Holley VP reportedly said, "Nope, we're a carburetor company, and we'll always be a carburetor company."
On the ride back to the Holley HQ, my buddy says the Holley big wigs were laughing about how many times they'd heard that story before, and how they'd come crawling back for more carbs. "They always end up going back to carburetors." He said his career flashed before his eyes, and that sure enough, not long later he was on the streets looking for work, and Holley was down the crapper relative to their glory years.
Should note that he also would tell an old Holley story of the one time he gave Zora Arkus-Duntov a ride home. Cool.
Yeah, sometimes people don't change with the times and they get left behind. That's the problem with the old guard sometimes. Its worst when people see themselves as isolated from changes. Probably the end of an era,and likely they'll get puchased by another company like crane or edelbrock. Its not the end (yet).
